A published Auckland lawn-care guide reviewed in October 2026 gives an indicative market range of about NZ$30 to NZ$50 per hour. Many providers price each lawn rather than charging a visible hourly rate, so use the range only to plan questions and compare the total scope.
| Planning item | Indicative figure | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Published hourly range | NZ$30–$50 per hour | Auckland guide range; the job may instead be quoted per visit. |
| Green-waste removal | Ask for a separate line item | Volume, vehicle access and disposal arrangements affect cost. |
| Recurring service | Request a per-visit price | Confirm frequency, seasonal changes and wet-weather arrangements. |
Size is only one factor
Grass height, slopes, obstacles, gate width, edging, mowing frequency and equipment access can change the time required. Photos and an approximate area help a provider decide whether a site visit is needed.
Define the finish
State whether you need mowing only, mowing and edging, clippings removed, hedge work or a wider tidy-up. Large trees, landscaping and section clearing require a different scope and sometimes different expertise.
Ask about repeat visits
For regular mowing, confirm the interval, price per visit, what happens in fast-growing seasons and how rain delays are handled. Ask whether GST, travel and green-waste disposal are included.
